Our Committee members

Meet the people who make the Aber Archers club so amazing.

Josh Nelthorpe-Cowne

President

What up peeps!! My name is Josh Nelthorpe-Cowne and I am the President of Aber Archers.
I joined the club because I shot on and off for many years and wanted to get better at the sport. I also wanted to feel like a part of something during my time at Uni. Aber Archers has taught me far more than I thought it would and introduced me to people that I can’t imagine my life without.
When I joined the club, I shot barebow (without using a sight and using the tip of the arrow as a reference point for aiming) however during my time at Aber Archers I learned about the “Instinctive Technique” which is now how I mainly shoot and have tried my hand at many other styles too.
It is my aim to run the club as smoothly as possible and provide all members with the best possible environment to meet new people and improve their archery skills.

Callum House

Head Vice President

Hello, my name is Callum House and I am a third year student studying biochemistry. I have been an active member of the club from when I joined in my first year and since then I have gone on to be a member of committee. Taking over the position of social sec in second year and being elected in as vice president in my third. I am a longbow archer and generally prefer the more traditional shooting styles over the modern ones used by compound and recurve archers. I would consider myself to be a social archer preferring to shoot on a casual basis as opposed to taking part in competitions.

Shwmae I'm Scarlett, the club Secretary. I'm in my third and final year studying English Literature and Creative Writing. I shoot barebow and may start traditional soon. This is my third year as a member of Aber Archers and my second year as Secretary. I'm the woman behind the emails each week and I sort all the admin stuff. In my free time I enjoy reading, writing, and nights out dancing! Don't be afraid to come up to me to talk about anything! See you at shoots and socials!

Logan Williams

Media Officer

Hey Guys, My name is Logan Williams and I am your media officer for this year. I first started archery in 2016 due to a catastrophic injury nearly resulting in the loss of my right leg. I have been hooked on archery since and I look forward to sharing my passion with you.

Alex Newnes

Tournament Organiser

Greetings! My name is Alex/Zeus.
I am a PhD student in the Ecology group in IBERS. I first started archery here in Aber when I was in the final year of my undergraduate degree (I've been in Aber a long time...it traps you!). Me and a flat mate of mine decided to give it a try one day and I was hooked! I decided pretty quickly that I wanted to shoot English Longbow as it was just so different and at the time, i wasn't interested in anything competitive....that changed fairly quickly.
Competition is a huge part of Archery and has become a huge part of my life. As such, I have been Tournament Organiser for several years and previously the club president.
I want everyone to experience competitive archery and learn as much as I did from putting myself out there and meeting other people.
I now shoot Target and Field Archery, both with my longbow and recurve, and will do my best to drag as many of you as I can along with me!
See you on the range 😎 xox

James Tandy

Social Secretary

I joined Aber Archer's as I thought it would be something enjoyable to try and I have honestly found a family with the people in the club here. I am a barebow style Archer.

I am one of two social secretaries and I plan on making everyone feel involved and part of the club as a whole while allowing people to express themselves on socials.
